Swamy Temple, located near Tiruchanur in Tirupati district Andhra pradesh, is
one of India’s most ancient and historically significant temple. This is one of
the oldest known Shiva Lingams in the world, the temple stands as a priceless
symbol of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage
Historians believe that the
Gudimallam Shiva Lingam dates back to the 2nd century BCE, making it
over 2,000 years old. Unlike traditional lingams, this unique sculpture
features a human-like form of Lord Shiva carved on the front, holding a
water vessel and wearing traditional ornaments, which remains the main
attraction for devotees and researchers alike.
Thousands of devotees visit the temple during festivals like Maha Shivaratri and Karthika Masam. Located just 8 km from Tirupati, Gudimallam Temple remains an important spiritual and heritage destination. Devotees believe that worshipping here brings health, prosperity, and spiritual growth. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) protects the temple as a heritage site, ensuring its preservation for future generations.
