Foundation Stone Laid for Google Mega Data Centre Project in Andhra Pradesh
The city of
Visakhapatnam witnessed a historic milestone on April 28, 2026, as Google
officially commenced construction of its massive AI data centre with a grand
foundation stone–laying ceremony.The event took place at Tarluvada in
Anandapuram mandal, attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu
Naidu and Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with top officials and
technology leaders.
This ambitious
project is part of Google’s $15 billion investment plan and is expected to
become India’s largest AI and cloud data centre hub. Spread across over 600
acres, the facility will have a capacity of nearly 1 gigawatt, making it one of
the largest in Asia.Developed in collaboration with companies like AdaniConneX
and Airtel Nxtra, the project aims to boost digital infrastructure, support AI
innovation, and attract global tech investments.
Leaders
highlighted that this initiative will transform Visakhapatnam into a global
technology hub, generating employment and strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s role
in artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
The project is
expected to be completed by 2028, marking a new era of technological growth for
the region.
