RCB Retain IPL Crown, Defeat Gujarat Titans by
Five Wickets in 2026 Final
Defending
champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) successfully retained their Indian
Premier League (IPL) title, defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the IPL
2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday night.
After being put
in to bat, Gujarat Titans struggled to build momentum and managed 155 for eight
in their allotted 20 overs. Washington Sundar emerged as the top scorer for the
Titans with an unbeaten 50 off 37 deliveries, anchoring the innings amid regular
setbacks.
RCB\'s bowlers
delivered a disciplined performance, with Rasikh Salam Dar leading the attack
with three wickets. Experienced pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood
chipped in with two wickets apiece to restrict Gujarat to a below-par total.
Chasing 156 for
victory, Bengaluru produced a composed batting display, reaching 161 for five
in just 18 overs. Star batter Virat Kohli once again rose to the occasion,
remaining unbeaten on 75 from 42 balls and steering his side to a comfortable
victory.
Gujarat Titans
spinner Rashid Khan claimed two wickets, but Bengaluru\'s batters remained
firmly in control throughout the chase.
Kohli\'s
match-winning knock earned him the Player of the Match award as RCB celebrated
their second consecutive IPL championship.

Awards
Teenage
sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi capped off a remarkable campaign by being named
the Most Valuable Player of the Season. The 15-year-old also secured the Orange
Cap after scoring 776 runs, becoming the youngest-ever recipient of the award
at just 15 years and 65 days of age.
Sooryavanshi
further dominated the individual honours, winning the Emerging Player of the
Season award, the Super Striker of the Season award with an extraordinary
strike rate of 237.3, and the Super Sixes of the Season award after smashing 72
sixes.
Kagiso Rabada finished as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament and claimed the Purple Cap with 29 wickets
